Garden Planning with Kids

Garden Planning with Kids

Gardening is a passion that my dad has passed on to me which I am cultivating in my own children. There is something so therapeutic about digging in the dirt, watering the ground, and being under the same sun that is nurturing your plants. We particularly love to grow vegetables and herbs that we can eat. I've found that kids are more likely to try healthy foods when they've had a hand in growing (and preparing) them personally.

Gardening with kids is simple with Miracle-Gro Gro-ables. The seed pod contains everything you need to grow vegetables or herbs literally right at your fingertips so that you are free to concentrate on enjoying this relaxing hobby with your kids!

Since we love to grow plants we can eat, Miracle-Gro sent us their Gro-ables Salad and Herb Seed Pod Kit. Whether you're an experienced gardener yourself or just learning right along with your kids, you'll love the simplicity and information included right in the package.

Peel back the Miracle-Gro Gro-ables seed pod label for detailed information about when to plant each variety, how much space the plants need, and when you can expect to see sprouts. We decided to plant the early vegetables and herbs that can tolerate being in the ground before the last frost date immediately in our salad tables. Yes, we're excited and want to get started as soon as possible!

Our daughter made a list of which vegetables would go in our garden later in the season versus which plants we could start in our salad table now. Then, she matched any duplicates as she separated the seed pods by garden and salad table. Our last frost date is still in a few weeks so we are excited to have two spinach and two lettuce seed pods to plant immediately!

Planting the Miracle-Gro Gro-ables is so simple my daughter can complete the task independently with a little bit of guidance from me near by. The Miracle-Gro Gro-able seed pod is placed into our garden soil so that the top is level with the surface. Next it is her responsibility to water the seeds daily. Each Miracle-Gro Gro-able is guaranteed to grow so I know she'll be thrilled with the results of her work!
